India Moves to Protect Exporters From Hormuz Disruption
The Strait of Hormuz disruption has driven up freight costs, war-risk premiums, and insurance across EXIM routes. In response, the Government of India constituted a high-level Inter-Ministerial Group on March 3, 2026, meeting daily to stabilise export flows and protect exporter margins.
Here is every measure currently in place and how to access it.
The RELIEF Scheme - Live Since March 19, 2026
Launched by DGFT under the Export Promotion Mission. ECGC is the implementing agency.

What Exporters Must Do Now
Register with ECGC and apply for RELIEF Scheme coverage immediately.
If cargo is stranded at JNPT, Mundra, or Kandla - file for BTT procedures now
EPCG and Advance Authorisation holders - apply for the August 31 extension.
